I’m Kierra Dennison, or more commonly known as “The roach girl”, and I’m an undergraduate student research assistant at Augusta University. My research centers around investigating the genomic regions that contribute to glucose aversion in the German cockroach, Blattella germanica. My passion for evolution and genetics persists so much in my day-to-day life that I plan to continue my dedication to research after I complete my undergraduate degree.
As for when I’m outside of the lab, I like to read a good book or watch various animal documentaries. Even though I can lean towards being a homebody, you can find me outside trying to catch and release bugs and frogs. I really enjoy taking any opportunity to educate myself and others about wildlife.
I really enjoy the outdoors because everywhere I look I find a reason to stay curious and inspired.
