About Me

I am the Research Technician of the Baltzegar Lab. I support the lab by stocking materials, supporting researchers, keeping up-to-date on various fields of research, and turning raw data into readable graphs. My current research focuses on the Voltage-Gated Sodium Channel in insects, and how mutations within the encoding gene can result in insecticide resistance. 

In Spring 2025, I graduated with a B.S. in Plant Biology from the University of Georgia. I focused on the ecology and conservation of plants, and later joined a lab that focused on the genetics of the model species Arabidopsis thaliana. This lab sparked my interest in genetics research and ultimately led me here. Thus far, I have learned many things regarding bioinformatics and genetic exploration, and I look forward to learning more and supporting the lab with that knowledge. 

Outside of the lab, I dabble in various activities like hiking, photography, flying, and sailing. I also have a collection of various houseplants that I take care of, ranging from succulents to carnivorous plants. This unfortunately means that my cat, Butters (short for Butterscotch), is not allowed in my room; I have quite a number of poisonous plants!
